Velvet Head Spa offers a focused approach to relaxation that centers around comprehensive head and scalp treatments. Located on South Bascom Avenue in Campbell, this intimate spa specializes in extended sessions that combine scalp massage, upper back work, and facial treatments into cohesive 90-minute experiences.
The atmosphere feels calm and uncluttered, with a layout that accommodates clients comfortably without feeling crowded. What sets Velvet Head Spa apart is their methodical attention to the head, neck, and shoulder areas – regions that often hold the most tension but rarely receive dedicated care elsewhere. Their therapists work systematically through these connected muscle groups, addressing both surface tension and deeper stress points.
The spa maintains a quiet, professional environment where clients can arrive early to settle in before their appointments. The focus remains squarely on therapeutic benefit rather than flashy amenities, making it particularly appealing for those seeking genuine relief from headaches and head and neck tension.

I had a 4:30pm appointment today for the 90-minute session that included upper back, scalp, and facial work. I arrived about 15 minutes early and was the only client there. The person at the front (possibly the owner) checked me in, took photos of my scalp with a tablet, asked a few questions, and then showed me to my room. The technician came in after I was already lying down, so there wasn’t really any introduction, which felt a little awkward. The session started with about 20 minutes of upper back massage, but it was mostly deep trigger point work — not relaxing — and she wore gloves with very little lotion, which made it uncomfortable. From there, she moved into a combination of facial and scalp work. I expected something more like an upper back/shoulder and facial massage, but instead it felt like a mini facial. She never explained what products she was using or asked about sensitivities. From what I could tell, she double cleansed, applied a mask, and finished with serum and moisturizer. While the mask was on, she started the scalp “massage,” but I’d describe it more as a vigorous scrub. She wore gloves for this part too, and it actually hurt — my scalp isn’t particularly sensitive, but it was painful and not relaxing. My hair kept snagging on the gloves, and there was no soothing element to balance it out. Even though I booked a 90-minute session, everything wrapped up by 5:40 (about 70 minutes total), and I was taken to another room for a rough blow dry. I was in my car driving home by 5:55pm. To be fair, the space itself is gorgeous — clean, modern, and beautifully decorated. But overall, the experience didn’t come close to matching the price tag ($168 even after a 30% discount). If you’re looking for relaxation or a true massage, I’d honestly recommend just booking a regular massage and asking for extra scalp focus. The only clear benefit I left with was a squeaky-clean scalp — not relaxation, rejuvenation, or value for the money.

Thank you, Thea, for an amazing head spa morning. I did a 60min deep scalp appointment. She thoroughly deep cleaned my scalp, along with the head/hair scalp/ and neck massage. A blow out session was at the very end of the appointment. What a relaxing morning!

They say you will have deep treatments or services. But no! They will just wash your hair and send you off! The services or processes mentioned in the website are false, they don’t offer any of those and they won’t mention anything about different services for different rooms. You just pay $$$$ to just get your hair washed and its not like you have a conditioner at the least. No, they wash it, dry it off and send you off with frizzy hair.
